PAB anti-vibration platforms are special supports for audio and video devices, isolating them from external vibration by minimizing resonances related to superposition of those vibrations on intrinsic vibration of the devices themselves. The splendid isolation capabilities of those platforms are coming from the innovative way of suspension of the shelf for the electronic equipment, which limits its contact with the environment (suspension on strings attached to bolts in the shelf on one side, and tensioners on the other ? patented in the Polish Patent Office – Patent NR 215 645). Those capabilities are also influenced by:
- materials used for the plinth and shelf ? plywood covered with natural and modified veneers, less frequently veneered MDF and acrylic (experiments with other construction materials ? chipboard, wood and granite did not present satisfying results);
- materials used for the mechanisms supporting the shelf above the plinth (non-ferrous metal alloys, aluminum and non-magnetic steel as well as synthetic fiber, felt and rubber);
- tensioners allowing quick levelling of the shelf on a given height (Attention: the platform is supplied to the end user with a lowered shelf. The shelf needs to be risen and levelled, so that it floats unhindered above the plinth, even when loaded with the device it supports);
- feet mounted beneath the plinth in the axes of the tubes. The platforms are equipped with solid metal feet as standard, but those can be replaced by PAB bearing feet.
The PAB anti-vibration platforms have the biggest influence on the following:
- the sound stage gets bigger and more orderly;
- the sound detaches from the loudspeakers and channel separation gets improved;
- neutrality of the sound gets improved;
- fidelity of the reproduced sound improves as well as the timbre naturalness and impression of three-dimensionality gets better;
- vast improvement of the reproduction of the lowest frequencies, what adds to the increased clarity of the whole sound reproduction;
- refinement of the midrange and treble and lowering of the nervousness characteristic for the CD format – Audio 9/2010;
- „enlargement″ of the sound from digital sources, what brings it closer to the analog ones.
